The Partners for International Business Soil China program is a public - private partnership between a consortium of Dutch environmental companies, knowledge institutes and the Dutch government. The objective of this program is to develop the Chinese soil remediation, soil- and groundwater market and let Dutch companies, together with their Chinese partners, enter this market.

In depth training of representatives from Environmental Protection Bureau's (EPBs) and their associated Environmental Science Research Institutes from Shanxi and Guizhou provinces and Changzhou city. The training was conducted using site remediation demonstration projects. Testing of Chinese risk assessment instruments against real life situations was part of the training.

Three activities were conducted; Soil+ had an active or leading role in all projects:

  • Scientific cooperation on soil screening values between NIES and RIVM to create a firm basis for (environmental) risk assessment instruments for China;
  • Training of 300 representatives from central (MEP) and local (EPBs) authorities and Environmental Science Research Institutes (NIES, CRAES);
  • In 2010 a joint Chinese / Canadian / Dutch team has conducted a CCICED special policy study on "Developing policies for soil environmental protection in China".

The overall objective of the Rewin is to contribute to sustainable production for both Chinese producers of EEE and recyclers via promoting resource efficiency in order to lower the environmental impact of WEEE.
